At Macresac, we celebrate that the Armando Álvarez Group has achieved the official validation of its decarbonization targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) — an international recognition that endorses the Group’s commitment to real, measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
Commitment to a Science-Aligned Energy Transition
The validation by the SBTi confirms that the Armando Álvarez Group’s goals are aligned with the scientific recommendations to limit global warming to 1.5°C, in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
With this achievement, the Group consolidates its position as an industrial benchmark in sustainability and the circular economy, setting a clear roadmap toward the decarbonization of its operations and value chain.
Concrete Targets for 2033
The Armando Álvarez Group has set ambitious goals for the coming decade, using 2023 as the baseline year:
- Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 55.2%, meaning those generated directly by industrial operations and energy consumption across production sites.
- Decrease Scope 3 emissions by 34.7%, including those linked to suppliers, transport, product use, and waste management.
These figures reflect the Group’s determination to move decisively toward a more responsible, efficient, and environmentally respectful industry.
SBTi: An International Standard of Credibility and Rigor
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global alliance driven by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Its mission is to validate and promote scientifically grounded, measurable corporate emission-reduction targets, ensuring that companies act with the urgency and impact the planet requires.
Macresac: Committed to the Group’s Values
As part of the Armando Álvarez Group, Macresac fully shares this vision and contributes through its own initiatives to building a more sustainable future.
Among our priorities are:
- Optimizing the use of raw materials and energy.
- Promoting eco-design and the recyclability of our products.
- Integrating more circular and efficient solutions at every stage of production.
In this way, we continue advancing in the same direction set by the Group: reducing our environmental impact and generating sustainable value for our customers, collaborators, and communities.
A Step Further Toward a Low-Carbon Future
The validation of the Armando Álvarez Group’s decarbonization targets marks a key milestone in its global sustainability strategy.
At Macresac, we celebrate this achievement and reaffirm our commitment to responsible innovation, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
